Over 130 young people representing WA Youth Advisory Councils and reference groups along with 25 Community/Youth Development Officers came together for the third annual YACtivate! Youth conference, hosted by the City of Kwinana Youth Advisory Council (KYAC) at the Zone Youth Space on Sunday 12 August 2018.

YACtivate! Brings WA youth together to network, share ideas, celebrate their achievements and empower young people through leadership development opportunities. Attendees were motivated by David Castelanelli, WA Youth Ambassador 2018 and founder of Alpha Motivation. David is hailed as being Perth’s best school speaker and received huge praise from the YACtivate crowd.

The event was held over one day, jam packed with plenty of opportunities for youth networking and engagement. Brayden Kelly, Kwinana Youth Advisory Council Chairperson said “YACtivate was a great experience, being a part of the big day allowed me to bond with my Youth Advisory Council (YAC) members and gave us an opportunity to put our abilities to the test.”

YACtivate! 2018 brings Youth Advisory Councils together with team building activities and educational workshops to help further their skills. Mayor Carol Adams said “This event really showcases how YAC’s are contributing to their communities and create a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn, share and network.”

The day concluded with a massive group program planning session for 2019 with attendees providing feedback on the types of activities and workshops they’d like to see at the next YACtivate! Conference in 2019.

YACtivate! 2018 was hosted by the Kwinana, Busselton, Mosman Park and Margaret River-Augusta Youth Advisory Councils.
