The major Neighbour Day events in Kwinana will celebrate community on 24 March, encouraging people to come together and connect with others living in their neighbourhood.
Mayor Peter Feasey said larger events were planned for Medina and Wandi, a week ahead of the usual Neighbour Day celebrations which fall on Easter Sunday this year so more people can take part.
“The theme of Neighbour Day 2024 is Create Belonging, Share Belonging and is a call to action for everyone to work together to create belonging for ourselves, our families, and our neighbours,” Mayor Feasey said.
“Whether through a cuppa, a pinic in the park, or a message of support; Neighbour Day is the perfect opportunity to say thanks for being a great neighbour and for being there to lend a hand.
“Neighbour Day events are popular in the City of Kwinana and we love seeing people get together and try a new activity or enjoy some food together and get to know each other that little bit more or even make a new friend,” he said.
More information about the local Neighbour Day events can be found at www.kwinana.wa.gov.au/whatson.
Smaller events will take place in Leda and Apsley Estate on 23 March, and another small event is planned at Thomas Oval on the Easter weekend, with details available in local chat pages and localised letterbox drops.
