The City of Kwinana in collaboration with WA Police swiftly implemented proactive measures in response to recent criminal incidents along The Strand in Wellard.

This multi-faceted approach aims to address the safety concerns raised by residents and businesses in the Wellard area.

The City of Kwinana strategically deployed a mobile CCTV camera in The Strand to enhance surveillance and be a visible deterrent to potential crime.

A 'Cuppa with a Cop' session was also held on Wednesday at Bliss Momos café in Wellard, providing residents with an opportunity to engage directly with local law enforcement officers, voice their concerns, and collaboratively explore solutions.

Police increased high-visibility patrols in the Wellard area to deter antisocial behavior and respond promptly to emerging issues.

Mayor Peter Feasey, who is also a member of the Town Team in Wellard, said the City and local Town Team will also run activation initiatives along The Strand in the coming months.

“These activations aim to foster a positive and vibrant community atmosphere to discourage antisocial behavior and promote community engagement,” Mayor Feasey said.

He said community safety was a high priority for the community and the City of Kwinana was committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all residents.

"The City of Kwinana is dedicated to addressing the concerns of our community promptly and effectively,” Mayor Feasey said.

“By implementing these measures promptly, we aim to enhance the sense of security in Wellard and create a thriving community space for everyone."

The City encourages residents to report any suspicious activities to WA Police. For more information or to stay updated on safety initiatives, visit Community Safety.
