The City of Kwinana invites all community members over 55 years of age to a range of community and City-led events during Seniors Week (6 November to 13 November).

Mayor Carol Adams said the week of celebrations will promote Act Belong Commit mental health messaging and encourage seniors to maintain healthy social connections, physical activity, and hobbies or group memberships.

“There is such a variety of groups and services for seniors here in Kwinana that everyone can find something new to have a go at whether it be archery, miniature railway, or Books and Biscuits,” Mayor Adams said.

“I encourage our seniors to pick up a booklet from community centres, the Kwinana Senior Citizens Centre or keep an eye out for them in their mailbox.

“A list of all events and activities taking place across the City during Seniors Week is also available on the City’s website.

A highlight of the week will be the Seniors Expo organised by the City of Kwinana in collaboration with local groups which will be held at Medina Hall on 8 November from 10am until 2pm.

It will include a line dancing demonstration, seniors choir performance and weaving activity, plus free barista-made coffee and more than 25 stallholders with information on groups, clubs and service providers in the City.

“The Week will wrap up with a Savvy Seniors ‘Remember When’ Disco at the Kwinana Bowling Club on Saturday, 12 November from 7pm until 11pm and $10 entry includes supper.”
