The City of Kwinana will be undertaking its feral animal control program between January 2021 and May 2021, in City of Kwinana managed Conservation Reserves.
Feral animal control will be focused on the red fox, feral cat and European rabbits. Control will be carried out by trained professionals with appropriate pest licenses, permits and associated qualifications required under the Animal Welfare Act of 2002 and the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act (BAM Act) 2017.
During this time signage where control is being carried out will be visible at major entry points to reserves. Pet owners can assist by keeping dogs on a leash in conservation reserves.
Contractors will also release Rabbit Calicivirus Disease (RHDV1) in order to control feral rabbit populations. If you own domestic pet rabbits, please ensure that you have all the appropriate vaccinations for your pet and keep your hutch insect proof.
To obtain further advice regarding appropriate vaccinations, please contact your local vet. Further information can be obtained by contacting the City of Kwinana on 9439 0200.
