Collaboration Ensures Adventure Park Arsonist Charged

7 May 2018

Collaborative efforts between the City of Kwinana and the WA Police have seen the arsonist responsible for deliberately lighting a fire at the City’s prized Adventure Park, being caught and charged.

The incident, which took place in early April 2018, caused damage to some of the soft fall floor in the Adventure Park and was immediately reported to Police to investigate before the area was repaired.

Through the use of CCTV cameras and the cooperation between the parks caretakers, City Assist and other City of Kwinana Staff and WA Police, they were able to identify the 14 year old female responsible for the offence.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams she was proud of the collaborative efforts between the City’s staff and the WA Police to identify and hold the person to account for the vandalism that they inflicted on a much loved community asset.

“The City takes such pride in its facilities and it is extremely disappointing when people do not treat them with respect.

“We will always endeavour to do what we can to ensure that people responsible for actions such as this are held to account in an effort to protect our amenities and ensure they are in the best condition for the enjoyment of the community.

“We simply will not tolerate this kind of criminal behaviour and are so grateful to the WA Police for their efforts on this matter.

The offender has been charged and will appear in court later this month.
