Pre-booked Verge Collections - Terms and Conditions

Households in Kwinana are entitled to a set number of verge waste collections per year, including bulk, green, e-waste, mattresses and white goods. To avoid your waste being refused, or penalties, waste must be placed in accordance with the terms and conditions of this page.

Service Entitlement

  • Each residential property is entitled to the City of Kwinana’s (‘the City’) standard Pre-Booked Verge Collection allocation per financial year. This currently includes:
    • Up to two (2) collections of three (3) cubic metres of either bulk waste or green waste; and
    • Up to three (3) additional collections for e-waste, mattresses, or white goods.
  • Residents can substitute the three (3) additional e-waste, mattress, or white good collections for one (1) collection of three (3) cubic metres of green waste.
  • Collection entitlements are subject to change at the City’s discretion.

Timing of Placement

  • Waste must be placed out no earlier than 48 hours before your booked collection date.
  • All waste must be out by 7:00am on the scheduled collection day.
  • Waste placed out without a booking or earlier than 48 hours prior to a booked collection will be considered illegal dumping and may result in an infringement.

Placement of Waste

  • All waste must be placed:
    • On the verge directly in front of your property;
    • Placed on the side verge of your property; or
    • In the laneway behind your property.
  • Waste must be separated into piles:
    • Metals and white goods;
    • Mattresses;
    • E-waste;
    • Other bulk waste; and
    • Green waste.
  • All waste is your responsibility to maintain throughout the collection.

Excess Waste

  • If the waste presented exceeds the allowed volume and an additional allocation is available, the City may use one of the remaining allocations to complete the collection without approval.

Responsibility for Non-Compliant Waste

  • The booker shall be solely responsible for the proper management and removal of:
    • Any non-compliant waste materials; and
    • Any waste exceeding the authorised collection volume, that is placed at the designated collection point(s) and not collected by the City’s Contractor.

Liability for Damage

  • City’s Contractors may use loaders and other large machinery for collection.
  • Booker shall be fully liable for any damage resulting from incorrect placement of waste, including but not limited to waste placed near:
    • Power domes;
    • Water meters;
    • Power poles;
    • Fences;
    • Letterboxes; and
    • Telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Clear access must be maintained to all essential services and infrastructure.

Service Misuse

  • Piling of waste at the end of the road, laneway or in any public or communal area is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not place waste on verges other than the verge abutting your residence.
  • Waste is not to be placed at the rear of blocks unless in a laneway.
  • Use of the service by commercial business or non-residents is strictly prohibited.
  • Breach of this condition may result in suspension of service or additional charges.
