Pre-Booked Verge Collections

Verge collections are provided to residential properties paying for a waste service charge. In July 2025, the City will be transitioning to a pre-booked collection service. Find out about our new pre-booked verge collection as well as how to use this service here.

Pre-Booked: Your Waste, Your Way!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new pre-booked verge collection system for bulky waste in our City, commencing July 2025! This system is designed to make waste disposal easier, more efficient, more convenient, and environmentally friendly.

What is a pre-booked collection service?

The pre-booked service replaces the standard scheduled bulk and green waste collections that were previously offered to you by the City. The pre-booked service offers a flexibility system allowing you to dispose of bulky waste items year-round, at a time that is convenient to you. You will be able to book the service through an online portal or by contacting the City’s contractor.

Each residential property will receive two collections of either bulk waste or green waste annually, with the option for up to three collections of mattresses , white goods or e-Waste. Residents can opt to forgo their mattress, white goods and e-Waste collections in favour of an additional green waste collection annually. Additional collections can be purchased for a fee beyond annual allocation.

Why a pre-booked collection service?

Convenient: Provides a service you can book year-round.

Educational: Provides a simple online booking service that promotes alternative disposal methods and reducing items ending up as waste, while educating residents what can and cannot be placed on the verge.

Efficient: Reduces residents waiting for their scheduled collection.

Environmentally Friendly: Proper disposal of bulky waste helps in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment by recovering more recoverable items.

Safer: Improves streetscapes, reducing hazards and damages.

Flexible: Provides a service customisable to your needs.

Equitable: Provide a more equitable service while offering additional collections to those who require it at a discounted rate.

When are we Changing?

The City will be implementing this system in July 2025.

Other Changes

The City of Kwinana is dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and protecting our environment. By implementing the pre-booked verge collection system, we are taking another step towards a greener future.

In 2025, the City will introduce a Three Bin Garden Organics (GO) system and update our collection zones to improve waste management within our community. Learn more about these exciting changes on our dedicated Three Bin GO page

How do I book a verge collection?

You will be able to book the service through an online portal or by contacting the City’s contractor.

Bookings will open in June 2025, with collections starting in July 2025.

Will pre-booked service reduce reuse or recycling of items?

No. Pre-booked collections are intended for items that are at their end of life.

If you have items that can still be used, please consider your local Facebook Buy Nothing group, online selling sites like Gumtree, and Facebook Marketplace, or a charity donation/collection instead.

Where possible, recyclable materials will be separated and reprocessed by our Contractor, enhancing material recovery.
