YACtivate is a youth-led project developed for young people, by young people to promote Youth Advisory Councils (YAC) in WA. This year's YACtivate event is not so much a conference but a meet up hosted by the City of Kwinana YAC at the Zone Youth Space on Sunday 12 August 2018.
Mayor Carol Adams said "These events showcase how YAC's are contributing to their communities and create a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn, share and network". This event brings YAC's together with team building activities and educational workshops to help further their skills to be better equipped to contribute to their community.
Chairperson of the Kwinana YAC, Brayden Kelly said "I've heard so much about YACtivate and I am so looking forward to the chance to network with surrounding YAC's and make not only new friendships but learn new things and learn some exciting things also".
In 2016, the City of Kwinana YAC joined the YACtivate planning committee. The 2016 event was held at Point Walter Recreation Centre and attended by over 35 Youth Advisory Councils and groups. This year's event is planned in partnership with four Youth Advisory Councils; City of Kwinana, Town of Mosman Park, City of Bunbury and the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.
Vice Chairperson of the Kwinana YAC, Ebony Pavlov said "I have really enjoyed being a part of planning YACtivate 2018, this is my second time being on the planning committee, I feel as though I have gained a lot more experience and built strong friendships/networks with other YACs to work with on other events in the future".
All young people are welcome to attend this event this Sunday 12 August 2018 at the Zone Youth Space. For more information contact Stacey Hutt on (08) 9780 5217 or on Facebook.
