The Kwinana Youth Advisory Council (KYAC) attended the fourth annual YACtivate! Youth Conference, hosted by the City of Busselton, at Camp Geographe last weekend (31 August and 1 September).
Youth Advisory Council members from the Cities of Kwinana, Busselton, South Perth and Albany organised and participated in the event, which consisted of two days of skill building workshops and plenty of opportunities for youth networking and engagement. Attendees were motivated by the Great Southern Leadership Academy, local school chaplain Linda Roney and the City of Busselton Youth Development team.
Mayor Carol Adams said that the event gave young people from Kwinana access to important team building activities and educational workshops to help further their skills.
"YACtivate! Really showcases the ways in which our Youth Advisory Councils contribute at a local level and empowers them through leadership and development opportunities," Mayor Adams said.
"It also gives our young people the chance to share ideas and celebrate their achievements with like-minded individuals from surrounding communities," she said.
Kwinana Youth Advisory Council is facilitated by the LyriK program, proudly sponsored by Alcoa and Coogee Chemicals. To learn more about the LyriK program or the Kwinana Youth Advisory Council (KYAC) contact the Zone Youth Space.
