19 December 2019
The festive season is upon us again in the City of Kwinana. Whether you celebrate Christmas or other traditions, I am sure you will agree that many of us are looking forward to a few days of rest!
As we head into this break period, spare a thought for our wonderful emergency services staff and volunteers who continue to keep Kwinana safe over the Christmas period. This year we have experienced some of the hottest December days on record in Perth, with several fires already occurring in the City. Please help to keep our beautiful bushland surroundings and homes safe by taking note of fire restrictions and ensuring your household has a current fire plan.
The City’s famous Christmas Lolly Run is back again for 2019. Listen for the beeps as Santa and his helpers spread special cheer to all areas in Kwinana on Christmas morning! Huge thanks goes to our volunteers for keeping this 65-year tradition alive.
I hope you have had the opportunity to take part in any number of free events and programs in the City throughout 2019, from the Summer Symphony concert on Calista Oval to the employment opportunities expo held at the John Wellard Community Centre. We have a lot more in store for you in 2020 so please follow the City’s Facebook page
or visit the What's On website
to stay updated.
For all those heading away over the break, please travel safely and take extra care during this busy time on our roads.
On behalf of the Councillors and staff at the City of Kwinana, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a fantastic New Year.
Mayor Carol Adams, OAM
