Make Your Vote Count this Election

Residents can expect to receive their Election Packages for the 2019 City of Kwinana Local Government Election in early October, with this years Election Day happening on Saturday, 19 October 2019. 

The City is encouraging all eligible electors to make their vote count and vote in the upcoming local government election.

Mayor Carol Adams said Local Government Elections occurred every two years, and while it wasn’t compulsory to vote, she encouraged the Kwinana community to familiarises themselves with the candidates and have a say in who will be bestowed the privilege of being a City of Kwinana Councillor. 

“Local government elections play an important role in our democratic system and are an excellent opportunity for people to contribute to, and be involved in their local community. All eligible electors are encouraged to vote to ensure they have a voice in choosing the best people to represent their community,” she said. 

Election packs are posted out to all electors around three weeks before the election and are to be returned by post and to be received prior to 6pm on Election Day. The count commences at 6pm on Election Day with the results available later that evening. 

The election is conducted by the Western Australian Electoral Commission, using a first-past-the-post voting method.
