Over four weeks in November and December the City of Kwinana, Coastcare, Alcoa and Orelia Primary School have come together to create a beautiful Challenger Beach inspired mural and garden at Orelia Primary School.
Students under the guidance of local artist Vanessa Liebenberg have developed the mural as a representation of the beauty and biodiversity of Challenger Beach.
Mayor Carol Adams said the Alcoa Coastal Garden planted by local students represented the flora of Challenger Beach.
"The City has linked with Orelia Primary on this project that allows the students to participate in a range of activities including dune planting, in-class sessions, beach clean ups and lessons in coastal ecology," she said.
The Alcoa Coastal Mural and Alcoa Coastal Garden have been developed at the school to strengthen the links between the school and Challenger Beach.
The City of Kwinana support the Challenger Beach Coastal Rehabilitation Project in association with Perth NRM Coastal and Marine Program and Alcoa.
