A panel of judges selected three winners in this year’s annual photo competition after receiving more than 150 entries to the theme Story and Colour in Kwinana.
Cr David Acker, Junior Library Shelver Caide Lance, and Community Development Officer Arts and Culture Karen Morgan determined the winners of the Adult, Youth and Child categories.
Mayor Peter Feasey thanked the judges for their input and congratulated the winners and those who received commendations.
“The winner of the Child category was Logan Harry for Winters bush with the judges agreeing the entry was very skillful and immerses the viewer in nature,” Mayor Feasey said.
“Sienna Micallef won the youth category for The Iron Lady which tells both the historical and contemporary story of Kwinana, contrasting the black and white past with a modern pop of colour.
“Peter Taylor won the Adult category for Where the Smoke Sleeps.
“The panel appreciated the technical skill in Peter’s composition and they thought the photo was a bold interpretation of the theme and unique in both the story told and the golden hues.
“Congratulations once again to all winners and we encourage people to view all the images now on display at Darius Library and Resource Centre and vote for the People’s Choice Award,” he said.
Voting is open until 14 September with a $200 gift card for the winner.
Some of these community photos may now be included in the community calendar distributed to all households at the end of the year.
The winners each received gift cards with $400 for the Adult category, $300 for the Youth category and $200 for the Child category.
