October is set to be pumping for Bike Month with a Wheelie Inclusive Bike Festival, and the City is seeking the public’s input for its new Bike and Walk Plan 2025-2035.
Residents can complete the survey on the City’s engagement portal Love My Kwinana for a chance to win a $200 bike shop voucher as we aim to create a connected Kwinana.
Mayor Peter Feasey said the City wanted to create a connected community where bike riding and walking were an integral part of daily life for all types of trips enabling people to lead healthier lifestyles.
“We are updating the Bike and Walk Plan to create a long-term vision for bike riding, walking and e-scooters,” Mayor Feasey said.
“We are focused on enhancing connection between existing routes and building accessible, user-friendly active transport networks especially around schools, trains stations, shopping centres, and public open spaces.
“Whether you are a daily commuter, a weekend rider, or someone who enjoys a stroll through the local parks, your input is essential.
“You can highlight areas for improvement, suggest new routes, and help create a more connected and active City,” he said.
Bike Month events have been possible thanks to the Department of Transport Bike Month Grant and include children’s learn to ride session and bike skills workshops, adults bike skills sessions, sessions for BMX, scooter and skateboard, and a Community Bike Ride.
