The City of Kwinana is proud to announce Anna Parker as Kwinana’s Person of the Year.
Anna is a clear and articulate voice of the Medina community and is a member of the Medina Residents Group, volunteering at many events in the area.
Mayor Peter Feasey said Anna consistently campaigns for artwork and upgrades at the Medina shopping precinct, which helps to create a welcoming space for all community members.
“Congratulations Anna for your efforts to make Medina more welcoming and uplifting,” Mayor Feasey said.
“I also congratulate the Ngalla Yorga Waangkan Aboriginal Corporation, which won Aboriginal Group of the Year, and the Kwinana Heritage Group which won Kwinana Group of the Year.

“We are so privileged to have dedicated groups and individuals in this City working tirelessly to enrich our community.
“Ngalla Yorga Waangkan is known for providing a safe space for Aboriginal women to share their stories, providing much needed respite, and also supporting or hosting a range of community events especially during National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
“The Kwinana Heritage Group is dedicated to the maintenance of the history, preservation and conservation of the Smirk’s Cottage site which is frequented by school groups, community groups and the public throughout the year,” he said.

As part of the award, each winner receives a certificate, trophy, and their name on the honours board located in the Kwinana Public Library.
They also receive a $250 gift voucher, a $600 capacity building grant for their chosen club or organisation, and $1000 towards a celebratory event.
