Kwinana celebrates inclusion through film series
5 December 2025

The City of Kwinana will celebrate International Day of People with Disability (3 December) with a series of short films from Bus Stop Film and DADAA on 12 December.

A series of short films featuring film makers and actors with disability will be hosted in Kwinana in honour of International Day of People with Disability.

Celebrating Inclusion Through Film will be held on Friday, 12 December followed by a live Q&A with local film maker Matteo Mazzella, and refreshments.

Mayor Peter Feasey said the series includes four short films by Bus Stop Film including Sunshine, Stairs, Hopeful Romantic and The Interviewer.

“We will also be showcasing some short films by local film makers from DADAA including La Echolalia,” he said.

“Kwinana has chosen to host this event because we are committed to creating an inclusive community where people of all abilities feel valued and have opportunities to participate fully, as demonstrated in our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan.

“This event creates space for dialogue, awareness and leadership especially given the theme of the International Day this year is fostering disability inclusive societies, all with the aim of advancing social progress,” he said.

The event will be held 5pm to 7pm at the Ken Jackman Hall in the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre.

This venue is a wheelchair-friendly location on the ground floor with accessible bathroom with adult changing facilities available with an MLAK key from staff.

Multiple ACROD accessible parking bays are available nearby.
