The Fathering Project is the latest in a raft of community services choosing to base themselves in Kwinana to directly support the growing local community.
Mayor Peter Feasey said Council last week agreed to a one-year lease for The Fathering Project, with the option to extend for a further three one-year terms, in the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre.
“Having The Fathering Project to support local fathers and father figures, alongside other non-government agencies within the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre creates better opportunities to collaborate, share resources, ensure seamless referral networks and increase visibility and accessibility,” Mayor Peter Feasey said.
“As a City, we are proactive and focused on developing a community that has everything we need, right here.
“With a growing number of community service organisations now based locally, and more coming each month, we are doing all we can to partner, advocate and make Kwinana more attractive for the not-for-profit sector to locate themselves in a growing close-knit community.
“Services that are now based out of Kwinana include SCALES Legal Services, Workpower which is about to open at the Dairus Wells centre, Multicultural Futures which is also about to open, Palmerston, Anglicare, St Pat’s and Reclink,” he said.
Mayor Feasey said the City was currently fielding interest from other organisations.
“The City of Kwinana is committed to ensuring local residents have key services right here, reducing their need to travel,” Mayor Feasey said.
“There have been a number of strong outcomes with new projects and organisations delivering services locally, complementing the plethora of offerings from the City.
