Now a 70-year tradition, the Lolly Run will bring festive cheer delivering more than 40,000 lolly bags with the help of 100 volunteers across seven nights in the lead up to Christmas.
Mayor Peter Feasey said four trucks filled with volunteers will drive each residential street in Kwinana, throwing lollies to all who come out to wave hello.
“Residents can even organise street gatherings by applying for a Street Meet rebate from the City of Kwinana for $150,” Mayor Feasey said.
“The annual Lolly Run is a special tradition in Kwinana and while it has evolved over the years it has always provided an opportunity to bring some festive cheer, bring people together in celebration of where they live, and build local connections.
“We all know Santa is very busy this time of year, so he has entrusted our volunteers to deliver festive cheer in the lead up to the big day.
“We are very grateful for the funding support of the Kwinana Industries Council to continue this beloved community tradition.
“Listen out for the beeps of Santa’s trucks and join us on your street for lollies – all events will take place between 4:30pm and 8:30pm each night from 17 December to 23 December.
“Please just be mindful to stand back from the edge of the road, stay on the footpath, keep pets on lead and supervise children at all times,” he said.
