In support of a circular economy, the City of Kwinana has partnered with Huskee to bring the HuskeeSwap program to local coffee shops to provide a sustainable alternative to single-use cups.

Mayor Peter Feasey announced Wellard’s Bliss Momo’s, Good Thanks Café in the Kwinana Recquatic, Medina’s Green Barista, and New Ground Coffee in Mandogalup were among the first cafes to join the program with support from the City.

“This initiative supports the City’s Environment Strategy, which is committed to circularity by designing systems that strive to eliminate waste,” Mayor Feasey said.

“The City of Kwinana is proud to support local coffee businesses in transitioning away from disposable cups,” he said.

Customers can now buy HuskeeCup from participating Kwinana cafes to enjoy their coffee, then bring the cup back (the café will clean it!) and swap it for their next steaming beverage.

Alternatively, they can keep their cup, clean it themselves, and return to any participating café for their next caffeine hit.

HuskeeSwap is a global initiative, so people are encouraged to download the HuskeeSwap app to easily locate participating cafes and manage HuskeeCup swaps.

Ultimately these durable cups can be recycled into new products, contributing to a more sustainable circular economy.
