The City of Trees was celebrated by Kwinana’s annual photography competition which required entrants to submit photos of trees located within the local government area.

Three photos were selected as category winners by a judging panel, which included City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams and a professional photographer, and three further entries received judge’s commendations.

Mayor Adams said all eligible entries would be exhibited in the Carol Adams Community Lounge at the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre in August.

“There were 133 entries to the Love My Kwinana Photo Competition with the theme ‘City of Trees’ this year,” Mayor Adams said.

“Photography workshops held prior to the competition opening provided tips for amateurs to apply to their entries.

“The panel of judges took note of the entry composition, lighting, and celebration of the competition’s topic,” she said.

“Kwinana is known as the City of Trees for its lush landscapes and urban canopy.”

Will Battle won the child category for his image of a tree in Sloan’s Reserve and received $200 in prize money.
