Kwinana sets the stage for 'grove-y' movie festival
5 November 2021

The City of Kwinana will kick off the Summer Events Season with a huge two days of movies, comedy and free entertainment at its Get in the Grove! Summer Fest, on the 19 and 20 November.

The Grove, under the trees next to Koorliny Arts Centre will host food trucks, a pop-up bar and free family entertainment including roving performers, live music and a free Circus Skills workshop.

Residents are encouraged to come down and ‘Get in the Grove!’ or grab a ticket to one of the many movies showing over the weekend at Koorliny Arts Centre. Peter Rowsthorn will also be performing his adults only “The Comedy Stylings of Peter Rowsthorn & Frankie” for just $10 per ticket.

Mayor Carol Adams said the event was a great, low-cost night out for the whole family with family passes to the movies just $15.

“There is something for everyone! You can check out one of the blockbuster movies, have some belly laughs at the Peter Rowsthorn show or simply come down and grab some dinner with the family.” she said.

“We will have live music and free workshops to entertain the younger ones, all set under the lovely canopy of trees next to Koorliny, in the heart of Kwinana City Centre.”

“With a range of movies on offer, from Shaun the Sheep to Mad Max, you are sure to find something you will like.  With summer on our doorstep, why not choose one of the outdoor movies on offer and sit under the stars,” Mayor Adams said.

Tickets are on sale for the movies and comedy shows, however, The Grove is free and not ticketed. All updates will be available on the Get in the Grove! Facebook event and the City website www.kwinana.wa.gov.au/getinthegrove!
