Mayor's Christmas Message 2020

Mayor's Christmas Message 2020
17 December 2020

The festive season is upon us again in the City of Kwinana. Whether you celebrate Christmas or other traditions, I’m sure many of us are ready for a break and reset!

This is an ideal time to reflect on the year that was 2020.

It’s been a tough year for many. The year 2020 will always be remembered for the COVID-19 pandemic, but I truly hope you all found some joy in what was otherwise a tumultuous year.

The City’s usual way of operating was amended somewhat this year due to the changing conditions. From social distancing to closures and cancellations, 2020 has certainly had its fair share of challenges and disappointments.

And while our events calendar didn’t pan out the way we had planned this year, I for one am happy to put 2020 well and truly in the ‘rear vision mirror’ and now focus on some new and exciting events in 2021. So - watch this space!

On a more positive note, the City of Kwinana initiated the very successful ‘Stay Loyal, Shop Local’ campaign, strongly focussing on supporting local businesses and helping them get back on their feet after the pandemic struck.  If you have any last-minute Christmas shopping to do, we encourage you to buy from local traders to support our local business economy.

For all those heading away over the break, please travel safely and take extra care during this busy time on our roads.

On behalf of the Councillors and staff at the City of Kwinana, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a fantastic New Year. Here’s to 2021!

Mayor Carol Adams, OAM
