The City has a number of inclusive facilities and services available to elderly residents, adults and children who are at risk, and people with disability.

Assisted City services and support

Priority Bin Service

Do you have difficulty placing your bin on the verge for collection day?

The City offers in-home waste collection services for eligible aged persons and people with disability. A representative from the City’s waste contractor can bring your bin out for collection and return it for you on rubbish day.

Kwinana Home Library Service

The Kwinana Public Library offers a Home Library Service for residents of the City of Kwinana who are full-time carers or are unable to visit the library due to age, disability, or health problems

Rates - Senior and Pensioner Rebates

Eligible and registered ratepayers have the opportunity to either claim a rebate on the rates and Emergency Services Levy, or defer payment.

Kwinana Sporting Clubs

There's a sport for everyone to enjoy in Kwinana.

Adventure Park

Kwinana Adventure Park is a purpose-built adventure park with accessible play equipment for all ages and abilities.

All paths are fully compliant with Australian Standards for Access and Mobility, and the layout of the playground has been designed with careful consideration for a wide range of access and mobility requirements. There are three accessible, unisex toilets/change rooms on site

Zone Youth Space

The Zone Youth Space is a Youth Disability Advocacy Network (YDAN) approved facility offering a range of support services.

Kwinana Public Library

The library in Kwinana is designed to be accessible for all, with wheelchair access via ramps and automatic doors, accessible seating, designated parking bays near the entrance, gender-neutral restrooms with baby changing facilities, and a welcoming environment for guide dogs and other registered assistance animals.

Enjoy free access to books, audiobooks, eBooks, and more by signing up for a library card either in person or online. Borrow items easily using self-checkout kiosks or with help from the staff, and renew or return your items at your convenience, including online.

Inclusive activities Kwinana and surrounds

Kwinana Seniors Archery Club

The club is for people over 50 and welcome people of all abilities from beginners to experienced archers.  Experienced coaches can modify the distance of the targets and provide coaching, advice and guidance to accommodate your needs. The club operates on Wednesday mornings from Thomas Oval on Tucker Street, Medina. Contact Dave Pettet on 08) 95287828 to arrange a visit.

Kwinana Hockey Club

The club ran an All Abilities Come & Try Hockey Program for the first time in 2025. The four-week series ran in March and provided a fantastic opportunity for new players to experience the game of hockey in a fun and supportive environment.  For all enquiries email info@kwinanahockey.org.au

Swimming Lessons (SAIL Program)

SAIL (Specialised Access and Inclusion Lessons) are one on one classes held at the Kwinana Recquatic that are offered to people of all ages with an intellectual, physical or behavioual impairment who need individual attention or reduced distraction from other swimmers. Seniors and Support Fitness

Staying both mentally and physically active is important at any age, but perhaps no more so than in your senior years. The health benefits of exercise for the senior population are widely acknowledged by both physicians and scientific researchers. At the Kwinana Recquatic Seniors or Support membership is available to eligible applicants for just $14.40 per fortnight. Go into the Centre or contact staff on 9236 4700 or recquatic@kwinana.wa.gov.au

Pickleball

Pickleball is an excellent and adaptable sport for people with disabilities because of its smaller court size, lighter equipment, and simple rules, which can be modified for various needs. Casual Pickleball session are available Monday and Friday mornings, 9am to 11am at the Kwinana Recquatic.  For more information contact the Recquatic on 9236 4700 or recquatic@kwinana.wa.gov.au

Little Sports

Little Sports allows children aged 1-4 years old to try different sports they might not otherwise have an opportunity to play and is conducted in a fun, non-competitive environment by two enthusiastic coaches. All abilities and skill levels are welcome to attend and if your child wants to join a sporting club after taking part in the class, they will know which sports they enjoy! Kwinana Bowling Club

Bowling is a great sport for all ages. It offers physical benefits such as improved balance, coordination, flexibility, and muscle strength from the bending and movement involved. As a low-impact sport, Lawn Bowls is gentle on your joints and muscles, making it a sustainable way to stay active for people of all ages and fitness levels.  The club offers a range of memberships, including recreational and social options.  Email admin@kwinanabowlingclub.com.au or call the Kwinana Bowling Club on 9439 1810 to arrange a tour of the facilities.

Library Programs

The Kwinana Library offers inclusive programs for all ages, including, Storytime sessions with sensory-friendly options, digital literacy workshops, community events and author talks with accessibility features.  Read the Easy English information sheet to find out more about going to programs at the Library.

Cycling Without Age in Rockingham

Cycling Without Age connects the elderly, those no longer able to ride for themselves and those less abled, with their community and the outdoors by giving them FREE rides on trishaw e-bikes piloted by volunteer cyclists. This program provides an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to participate in basketball. Horse Riding

The HorsePower Peel Group are located at Mead Farm in Leda.  The club provides horse-based therapy for people of all ages and diverse abilities.

There is an opportunity for everyone at HorsePower, whether it is a child diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy or Down syndrome; a young teen struggling with emotional stress or from the effects of abuse; an adult recovering from a stroke or decreased muscle tone. HorsePower helps to build and focus on individuals' abilities, rather than disabilities by providing high-quality equine assisted programs adapted to their needs. Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a modified form of yoga that uses a chair for support, making it accessible for people with limited mobility and balance issues. It involves a combination of seated poses and standing poses that use the chair for stability, allowing for gentle stretches, strength building, and improved flexibility and balance.

Art Workshops

Mixed Palette’s core group of artists who have intellectual disability open their art workshops to the whole of their community. Their inclusiveness benefits everyone in Rockingham and surrounding areas in the Peel District.

These workshops are Artist facilitated, providing creative exploration with different materials and techniques for all and open to the wider community.
