A SWEET TASTE OF CULTURE IS COMING TO KWINANA! Join us for our third Kwinana Kaleido Cultural Experience at the William Bertram Community Centre on Friday 18 September, from 5pm–7pm. This time, we're celebrating something that seems to speak every language… sweet treats! We’re inviting our wonderfully diverse community to bring along a traditional family favourite dessert, cake, biscuit, slice or other sweet treat to add to our pop-up Tasting Tables for others to sample. It might be something passed down through generations, something that reminds you of home, a recipe connected to your culture, or simply the sweet treat your family always asks you to make. Our hope is to fill the tables with flavours from around the globe — and, while our tastebuds are busy, learn a little more about the people, stories, traditions and cultures that make up our community. Bring a sweet. Share a story. Taste another culture. We’re also hoping to feature a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration, adding another beautiful cultural experience to the evening. And for our younger guests — or those of us who are simply young at heart — there’ll be plenty of creativity too! Decorate your own rainstick and turn a cookie into a tiny edible canvas by creating your own unique artwork on it. Calling our local bakers & sweet treat makers! If you’re a local home baker, cake maker, dessert creator or small sweet-treat business, we’d love you to consider contributing something to our Tasting Tables. It’s a lovely opportunity to share what you create while introducing yourself and your delicious talents to your local community. Most importantly, everyone is welcome.
