Journey through the universe with Star Tracks Astro Events, at Wandi Hall and Recreation Area.
This Event is brought to you by the City to encourage engagement for the development of the City's Trail Master Plan. Please share your thoughts on our trails before the start of the event.
Settle in and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Wandi, and the night sky. An interactive indoor presentation from professional science communicators will explain astronomy to everyone. Once outside participants can meet the planets through powerful telescopes. Then major constellations of the night sky will be pointed out with a laser pointer. Learn about key navigational features of the night sky.
SESSION SCHEDULE:
7.15 pm Pre-start engagement,
Come and meet City Staff and let us know what you think about the City's Trails (including Bridle Trails of Wandi).
7.30pm Presentation
The evening will commence with an interactive indoor presentation from professional science communicators. Don't know much about stars? That's ok, come and learn all abou the night sky.
Telescopic Observation
You will then be welcomed to observe the planets through the telescopes. The telescopes will have been preset to view a different point of interest. Guides will be on hand to explain what is observable through the telescopes and answer any questions.
Laser Guided Tour
Following the presentation, we will head out to the telescope viewing area where science communicators will conduct a guided laser tour of the night sky, highlighting constellations, planets and satellites (where visible).
