Planning approval
Planning approval (also called development approval) is a legal document issued under the Planning & Development Act 2005, allowing land or buildings to be used for a specific purpose, with conditions if needed.
Before starting your business, check if you need planning approval:
- Make sure the location you want to use has the right planning approval for your business. For example, a space approved for a shop might not be approved for a restaurant.
- Check if the location is suitable for your business, including zoning and parking requirements.
- Find out if your business type is exempt from needing planning approval.
- If you plan to build, change, or expand a space, you must submit a development application.
