Easter Long Weekend Opening Hours

Please be advised that the City administration building and several City facilities, including the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre, will be closed for the Easter long weekend from Friday, 18 April through to Monday, 21 April (inclusive). 

Bins will not be collected on Good Friday (Friday, 18 April), residents impacted are advised to place their bins out on Saturday, 19 April by 6am. Collection for Easter Monday (Monday, 21 April) and the ANZAC Day Public Holiday (Friday, 25 April) remain unchanged, for any enquiries please contact 1300 293 955.

Business Grants and Funding

The City offers grants and rebates applicable to local business as well as promoting and sharing information about grants from external organisations and government agencies.

Local Commercial Support Grant

The Local Business Support Grant is currently open for applications. This round will remain open until midnight on 19 May or until funds are exhausted—whichever comes first.

Eligible expenses can include:

  • Physical upgrades
  • Security features
  • Boosting online presence
  • Professional development

This grant helps business owners invest in improvements and encourages them to use local businesses and services for the work. Eligible expenses, such as physical upgrades, security features, boosting online presence, or professional development, can be reimbursed up to $1,000. Funds are provided once a final paid invoice is submitted.

To apply, review the eligibility requirements and your application through the City’s SmartyGrants portal. You will first have to create a profile and then log in to submit your application.

The following local businesses are eligible to apply for funding:

Retail Business Application

A shop, local shop, liquor store, health studio, eating house, fish shop, tavern, showroom or trade display as defined by Local Planning Scheme No.2. Essentially this means businesses that have a retail trade component and are located in the City of Kwinana.

Home-based Business Application

A business that is operated from the dwelling/private residence of the business owner within the City of Kwinana and has been in business for at least 12 months at the time of application.

$50 CCTV Rebate

The City of Kwinana, in partnership with WA Police, offers a $50 rebate to local businesses and residents who register their working CCTV systems with Cam-Map WA.

This platform lets you securely register the location of your CCTV with WA Police. Knowing where CCTV systems are can help the police in investigations and improve community safety. If an incident happens, the police may contact you to access the footage.
