The Zone is a two storey youth space catering for young people in Kwinana aged 12 to 24. The facility offers a large range of youth oriented programs, workshops, events and activities every week and thoughout the year.
Featuring a multipurpose sports stadium, multimedia facilities, an art area and music rehearsal/performance spaces, the Zone is a youth friendly, safe place where young people can develop new skills, enhance existing abilities and socialise with peers.
The facility is home to a variety of practical and helpful information and support, a setting where young people can link in with positive services, as well as a social hub in which to relax or play games.
- Girls group on Tuesdays (15-18 year olds) and Fridays (12-14 year olds), 3pm to 5pm:
self-esteem building activities, health chats, grooming techniques, nails, cosmetics etc.
- Art Club on Saturdays 1pm to 3:30pm:
this program gives young people a chance to express themselves through art that will be used around the Zone.
- Rock and Water program on Thursdays, 3pm to 4pm:
learn how to be in control of your emotions. Have the courage to manage life’s challenges through fun activities and discussion. Being a Rock person teaches us ways to stand strong when we need to and being a Water person teaches us how to walk away with strength and respect.
- LAN Gaming on Thursdays, 4pm to 6pm:
this program that allows young people to verse their friends in a gaming match while hanging out in a safe environment.
- Beatball every First and Third Friday of the month, 6pm registration, 7pm games begin:
this is a program where young people are split into groups of three and verse each other in basketball to the beat of the music. Quick games to keep it interesting.
Dance Hip Hop K-Style
Dance Hip Hop K-Style is a youth-led program for 12-18 year-olds, with the vision to build self esteem through dance. Shaquille Lamar Walker, a 15-year-old Kwinana resident who was recently acknowledged at the WA Youth Awards for his outstanding contribution to the community through dance, facilitates the program.
Dance Hip Hop K-Style is a fun way to meet other young people after school that are passionate about dancing or want to have fun learning about hip hop dance styles. The program is inclusive of people of all different dancing abilities backgrounds.
Time: Wednesdays (During School Terms) 3:30pm to 4:30pm

The Youth Outreach Live Outdoors (YOLO) program provides fun after-school outdoor activities for young people 12 to 18 years-old at the Darius Wells Community Resource Centre on Tuesdays and McDonalds at the Market Place on Fridays between 3pm to 5pm.
YOLO provides challenges, games and creative activities to for young people to enjoy with many prizes to be won. If you are looking for a fun filled environment after school hours get in on the action and experience the YOLO fever!

Film Making Workshop
Learn the fundamentals of short film production. This workshop takes participants through the key elements of genre, story, structure, key film equipment, crew roles and commands.
Students learn filmmaking in a practical way by making a short film together - choosing from narrative, documentary or music video. From devising the story through to editing a rough cut, it's all in this workshop!
When: Wednesdays in Term 2 from 27 April to 29 June
Time: 4:30pm to 7pm
Where: John Wellard Community Centre
Age range: 12 to 18 year-olds

The regular zone favourite. Youth aged 12 to 18 years can swing by during these times for a general hang out.

Sexual Health Nurse
For 12-25 year-olds, this drop-in service is free of charge and is available at the Zone every Wednesday from 2pm to 5pm. See the flyer for full details
Parking is available at the rear of the facility. A drop off zone is located at the front of the facility for drop off and pick up (no parking allowed in drop off zone).
