Water
The Town has set a target of reducing its water consumption by 20% of both scheme and groundwater consumed based on 1999/2000 consumption data by the year 2012. We are participants in the ICLEI Water Campaign Program which is an international local government initiative aimed at improving efficiency and reducing overall consumption.
A number of initiatives have already been implemented including;
- Retrofitting taps with low flow valves in the Recquatic Centre and the Administration building
- Retrofitting showers in the Recquatic Centre with self-timing taps
- Progressive metering of all Council bores
- Preparation of a Water Conservation Plan for our Public Open Space and Sports Ground
