Council's Building Surveyors offer advice on all matters relating to:
  • the construction and alteration of new and existing buildings
  • the demolition of buildings
  • swimming pool safety fencing
  • sign licences
  • relocated buildings
  • retaining walls
  • dividing fences
  • compliance issues/non-approval issues

Building Permits

Every builder intending to construct a new building, alter, add to, repair or underpin, demolish or remove an existing building is required to obtain a permit from Council prior to the commencement of any works.

Building Inspections

Random inspections are carried out by the Building Surveyors to ensure that all the building works are constructed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.

Commercial and industrial buildings are required to be inspected and a Certificate of Construction Compliance and Occupancy Permit issued prior to the building being occupied

Swimming pool inspections are carried upon out every four years to ensure that the swimming pool fencing and gates comply with Building Regulations 1989.



Maintenance of Council's Building Assets

Building maintenance staff coordinate and oversee the maintenance of all Council Buildings.
