Mentoring Programs

Kwinana's Youth Mentoring program aims to match young people with mentors interested in facilitating their personal and professional development.

The program works with young people between the ages of 10-17 from the local Kwinana area and links in with schools, local sporting clubs, volunteer and community groups and industry.

The aims of the program are to:
  • Create a high number of well matched, high quality mentor-mentee relationships;
  • Ensure there is a learning and development environment for mentors and mentees alike;
  • Improve the self-esteem of Kwinana's young people;
  • Create a strongly supportive culture for mentors; and
  • Enrich the lives of Kwinana's young people by assisting in their personal development in order for them to make a positive impact in the community.
The program is, at its core, a one to one mentoring program, with a number of linked programs and opportunities. Young people aged 10-17 will be mentored by community volunteers aged 18+.

In addition, there are opportunities for group and peer mentoring to occur through:
  • Mentor-mentee group activities;
  • Options for the pair to be involved in community projects, or form their own projects; or
  • Up-skilling workshops for mentors.
