The Town of Kwinana is extending an invitation to local secondary school aged children to submit applications to receive an Educational Scholarship for the 2013 school year.

The Town of Kwinana’s Scholarship Program aims to recognise the educational achievements of local students, and to encourage the attainment of Entry Level Qualifications and further education.

The scholarships will be awarded to any young person entering either year 7, year 11, year 12, and to those students finishing year 12 and continuing with their education. The cash amount awarded will be different for each year group and the number of scholarships awarded will be limited, with all applications being assessed by a panel of judges.

“The Educational Scholarships assist our young people to further their education, with the goal to provide our youth with a competitive advantage upon entering the workforce”, Mayor Carol Adams said.

“Scholarships start at $300 for young people entering year 7 and goes up to $800 for those young people undertaking further education. This is a great incentive for local youth to apply”.

Scholarship submissions open on Monday 6 August 2012 and close Friday 14 September at 5pm.

Visit the Youth Services page to download an application form.

Application forms can also be obtained from the Town of Kwinana Administration Office, Zone Youth Space or by contacting the Community Development Officer - Youth on 9236 4552.
