The Town of Kwinana is working to further encourage a healthy local lifestyle with an initiative involving a series of free community events held at various parks and ovals around Kwinana.
Branded ‘Swap it! It’s Parks Play!’ the project is being funded by a small grant made available through the Swap It, Don’t Stop It campaign, funded by the Australian Government through the National Partnership Agreement on Preventive Health.
Swap It, Don’t Stop It is a Federal Government initiative which the Heart Foundation in Western Australia is involved in promoting. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the healthy choices that can help protect individuals from lifestyle related chronic diseases, beginning with an increase in physical activity and healthy eating. The Town of
Kwinana is getting involved in this worthy cause by offering a series of parks play events throughout spring in Kwinana. Residents are invited to head down to selected parks to get active and to socialise with other locals. A picnic lunch, games and sports will be provided by the Town.
The Town of Kwinana’s Healthy Lifestyles Team will be at Everglades Park in Bertram between 12pm and 2pm on Sunday, 27 November with special guest, Australian Hockey player Emily Hurtz.
Another Parks Play event will be held on Wednesday, 21 December between 12pm and 2pm at Apex Park in Medina.
