For the third year running the Town of Kwinana will host the Winter Open Day which aims to promote social wellbeing in the community and help local sporting groups attract new members.
The annual Town of Kwinana Winter Open Day caters to the sporting enthusiasts of Kwinana and attracts a whole range of local sporting groups, eager to sign up new members.
New to the 2011 open day will be the ‘show us what you got’ timeslots, where club members showcase their sport-specific skills in front of the general public and event attendees.
Over the past few years the Town of Kwinana have introduced and upgraded a range of sport and recreation based projects including two brand new state-of-the-art sporting pavilions in 2010.
Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said it was important to promote sport and recreation in the community.
“The Town of Kwinana is home to numerous sporting organisations that help us promote healthy lifestyles and well-being to our residents. It is therefore of vital importance that we support these groups in any way we can and help them attract new members to their clubs,” Mayor Adams said.
“Council’s Club Development team is always available to local sporting groups to assist in organizing and managing their clubs and can also assist with funding to an extent so I encourage clubs to take advantage of these services.”
The Winter Open Day is a free event and will be held on Saturday 2 April from 10am to 2pm at the western entrance of the Hub Shopping Centre (in front of Link Café).
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and get involved in local sport and community clubs.
