The Town of Kwinana has recently introduced a range of anti-littering signage around the area in an effort to promote an environmentally-conscious community.

12 new signs, funded by a federal government grant, have been placed throughout the Town in locations identified by council as ‘illegal dumping hot-spots’.

The signs display a simple message aimed at promoting community spirit ‘Keep Kwinana Clean’.

There has been a large focus on the reduction of illegal dumping lately after the State Government announced huge increases in penalties for offenders.

The Town of Kwinana has also increased patrols and has introduced CCTV cameras throughout the area in a bid to crack down on those who illegally dump their rubbish.

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the Town was continually trying to promote the Keep Kwinana Clean message.

“These new signs are another step in the right direction and coupled with an increase in penalties will act as a major deterrent to all forms of offenders,” Mayor Adams said.

“Kwinana has one of the largest amounts of open space in Kwinana. These beautiful bush and parklands are what make Kwinana such a lovely place to live and visit so it is imperative that we remain vigilant in our efforts to prevent them being degraded by acts of littering.”
