Town of Kwinana has yet again defeated City of Rockingham in the annual Red Cross Blood Donation Challenge.
During the 2012 challenge, Town of Kwinana staff made 33 donations whilst City of Rockingham were able to encourage 15 donations.
Driven by Director Corporate and Commercial Services and the competitive nature of staff, several trips were made within the four month period, where staff were able to donate to Red Cross and ‘save lives together’.
“Our annual challenge with City of Rockingham is a light hearted way to support Red Cross and bring awareness to staff on the importance of becoming a regular donor”, Mayor Carol Adams said.
“This and the fact that the Town’s staff seem to retain the trophy is an incentive for the challenge to continue each year”.
With every whole blood donation having the potential to save three lives, Town of Kwinana and City of Rockingham together contributed to help save up to 144 lives from their 48 donations.
