The latest edition of the Kwinana Konnect youth magazine was recently released to a sea of avid readers during a special launch at Gilmore College.

Hot off the press, students got hold of the first editions of the youth-based mag which is written by young people for young people.

The magazine features a range of articles including a list of upcoming events, reviews of current movies, books and games, interviews with popular Kwinana residents and an update on the happenings at Town of Kwinana Youth Services. The magazine also includes short stories written by the Senior Media Group – based at Gilmore College.

A special competition is also running in the latest edition which gives young people the chance to win a $50 JB Hifi gift card.

The Konnect magazine provides a way for Kwinana youth to hear about important issues relating to young people in the community.

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams expressed how pleasing it was to see the magazine progress.

“To witness such a proactive group of young people contribute to this wonderful publication is evidence of a community which values the input of our younger residents,” Mayor Adams said.

The Kwinana Konnect magazine is circulated all over Kwinana including to all local schools, community organisations and local businesses, if you can’t locate one you can also call Kwinana Youth Services to secure a copy.

The next edition of Konnect will be released in August 2011, to contribute articles or join one of the contributing media groups contact Russell on 9439 0247.
