The Town of Kwinana will host several clean up activities on March 6 to contribute to the National Clean up Australia day campaign.
Clean up areas will extend from Kwinana Beach in the west all the way through to Wandi in the east.
One of the primary clean up sites will be at Kwinana Beach on Sunday March 6. The Kwinana Beach Coastcare group will be meeting with other community members at the Beach Jetty at 9am
Participants should wear enclosed footwear and a hat and make sure they bring a water bottle.
In 2010 over 588,000 national volunteers took part in Clean up Australia day at more than 7000 sites across the country. This national effort saw over 15,000 tonnes of rubbish collected in a single day with Kwinana volunteers contributing several rubbish truck loads themselves.
Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams encouraged residents to take time out of their days to help contribute to Australia’s biggest community designed environmental program.
"Kwinana is blessed with some of the most beautiful wetlands, bushland and beaches in
Perth and it is important that we value these areas accordingly and do what we can to
promote a clean and environmentally conscious community,” Mayor Adams said.
“This is an ideal opportunity to enjoy our great coastline while interacting with fellow
residents in an effort to keep Kwinana beautiful.”
