Another inspiring celebration of the achievements of Kwinana’s young people took place on Tuesday night at the presentation of the latest LyriK Awards.
The ceremony for round 13 of the awards consisted of the usual award presentations, performances from community groups and key note speakers.
The LyriK Youth Incentive Program received 28 nominations for the round, a clear
demonstration of the overwhelmingly positive reception the program has received since its inception in 2006.
The winners in each category received a $150 incentive to spend on an opportunity of their choosing as well as an additional $50 to donate towards their chosen charity or cause. Due to the rise in numbers, a highly commended nominee was also recognised in some categories, receiving a double movie pass for Ace Cinemas in Rockingham.
The Town of Kwinana Mayor, Carol Adams expressed her pleasure at the motivational display of youth involvement within the Town.
“The impact this award winning program has had on our community is exceptional and clearly demonstrates the level of potential leadership and inspiration held by the young people in Kwinana.” Mayor Adams said.
“In the coming years, it is hoped that these young people will go on to become local leaders, providing positive mentorship and encouragement to the generations who follow.”
The LyriK program is generously sponsored by Eclipse Resources, Coogee Chemicals, Alcoa, BHP Billiton, and McCusker Charitable Foundation.
