Would you like to play a key role in the exciting growth happening in Kwinana?

The Town of Kwinana’s Local Government elections will be taking place on Saturday 15
    October 2011.

Nominations open on Thursday 1 September and all local ratepayers over the age of 18 are
eligible and encouraged to run for Council. Interested parties are invited to come along and view a council meeting in the Town of Kwinana Council Chambers on the corner of Gilmore Avenue & Sulphur Road. The meetings are regularly held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday in each month.

To assist potential candidates, a briefing session is planned in order to provide a general overview of how the Council system works and details of what the Councillors’ role, rights and obligations are.

The session will take place at 6pm on Monday 15 August 2011 in Council Chambers.

A representative from the Western Australian Electoral Commission will provide information on the running of the election and be able to answer any questions that candidates may have.

Following the formal information session, current Councillors will be available to offer advice and answer questions about their experience on Council.

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said "Being a Councillor is hard-work and time-consuming; and yet it’s also incredibly exciting and rewarding."

"The Town is holding this session to make sure that all residents realise that an opportunity
exists to make a real difference."

Potential candidates are asked to RSVP if they would like to attend. Contact Charlie Clarke, Governance Coordinator on 9439 0200.
