The Town of Kwinana Healthy Lifestyles Team is looking for donations of unwanted bikes for a new community program which will see rundown bikes repaired and donated to families in need.
The new program, run in conjunction with Bike Week, aims to teach young people the skills needed to repair and maintain bikes to a safe standard while experiencing the benefits of helping others.
Once up and running the program will involve young people attending workshops and working together to refurbish donated bikes so they can be passed on to less fortunate families within the community. The focus for the council at the moment however is obtaining as many damaged bikes as possible, to ensure the program can run at full capacity.
All sizes, shapes, styles and colours are welcome and as the program involves young participants learning how to repair the mechanics, the donation of damaged and rundown bikes is encouraged.
The new Town of Kwinana Healthy Lifestyles initiative is generously funded by Bike West. To arrange donation of your bike or for further information contact the Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator, Ashlee Fraser via email or on 9439 0269.
