The Kwinana Youth Mentoring program is searching for new mentors to become part of a life changing program that affects many young lives in Kwinana.
The Town of Kwinana Youth Mentoring program matches young people with older mentors who nurture personal and professional development.
In 2010 the program saw two of its initial matches reach the 12 month milestone.
Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the mentoring programs provided yet another means for young people in Kwinana to mature and grow into healthy young adults.
“Programs like these really do make a difference to the lives of our youth and it is great to hear how successful the initiative has been so far.”
Mayor Adams stressed just how great the program can be when the right people are involved and encouraged anyone considering becoming a mentor to call Kwinana Youth Services.
“The process is very thorough with matches tailored very specifically to the needs of both the mentor and the mentee.”
“This ensures relationships can flourish easily and improves the benefits that come out of the program,” Mayor Adams finished.
In addition to older mentors, young people in Kwinana aged between 10 and 18 are also heavily encouraged to get involved with the program if they feel they could benefit from being matched.
Applications close February 18.
