Footpaths and crossovers

Crossovers / Apron

The crossover is the part of the driveway within the road reserve from the road front of kerb edge to the front property boundary. As per Town of Kwinana's crossover Policy 8.4.3, the builder or owner shall construct or arrange to construct the crossover for newly constructed dwellings.

Where an old property does not have a crossover and the owner requests and receives the Town's approval for one, the owner is to construct or arrange to construct the crossover.

In both cases the Town will pay to the property owner, a one off subsidy of $270.00 inclusive of GST (except for when a footpath exists on a verge 5.0 meters wide or less) when the crossover have been constructed in accordance with the Policy and Vehicle Crossover Specifications.

Footpaths

To allow for future footpath construction, residents are advised to contact Council's Engineering Team regarding verge levels prior to planting lawn.

Council has a dual use footpath/cycling plan and constructs the pavement as the use is warranted.

To avoid damage incurring expenses to ratepayers, Council's policy is to consider the construction of footpaths only where approximately 80 per cent of buildings are completed to the street and the need has been identified as complying with Council's Footpath policy criteria.

Public Accessways

Council is continuing to close many of the accessways in Town due to the anti-social problems associated with accessways. When possible the land will be offered for purchase by the adjoining landowners.  Council does not contribute to the construction of fencing along public accessways.
