Indigenous People

The Town of Kwinana has a commitment to working in partnership with our Indigenous community and other government and non-government agencies to develop and support initiatives that provide services and benefits to Aboriginal people living within the Town of Kwinana.

A major program undertaken within the Town to assist in the health and welfare of our indigenous population is the Aborginal Healthy Lifestyes Program.

 

Aboriginal Playgroup

Held every Monday of the school term (breaks for school holidays) for 0-4yrs olds.

Learn Aboriginal Cultural activities -

Playgroup is held at Family Day Care centre, Bolton Way Orelia.

Sessions are 9:30am - 11:30am and transport can be provided.

The Medina Aboriginal Cultural Group (MACG)

Open Monday - Friday 9am - 4:30pm.

Several programs run from the centre including:

HACC Program - Mon/Wed/Frid

Art Group - Tuesday 9am - 12pm

Aboriginal Boys Dance Group - has just established and meets every Wednesday 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Red Cross - Reach Your Potential Program is currently based out of the centre with officer's Donna Brahim and Marianne MacKay running several programs for local Aboriginal youth.
