The Council's Environmental Health Officers also referred to as EHO's are statutory officers and administer several different Acts, Regulations and Local Laws with wide ranging powers. They may be able to facilitate and can assist the community to maintain environmental and public health standards in a sustainable manner.

“The key to the sustainable environmental health of all residents and cornerstone of Public Health in the community”. Environmental Health includes those aspects of human health determined by the physical, chemical, biological and social factors in the Environment.
The Town's Environmental Health Section is involved in a range of activities and program and strive to work with the community to protect, promote and improve public health within the City.
Environmental Health Officers provide assistance and information on a wide range of health-related matters concerning:
Food hygiene
Noise pollution
Environmental pollution
Infectious diseases
Effluent disposal systems
Pest controls matters
Water quality
Health promotion
In addition, Environmental Health Officers monitor and regularly inspect:
Food premises and manufacturers
Public buildings
Hairdressers, beauticians and tattooists
Environmental Health Officers are supported by the Health Act 1911 and its subsidiary legislation, the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Town's Local Laws.
