Town Centre Redevelopment

Town Centre Redevelopment

Town Centre Masterplan

The Town of Kwinana is embarking on an exciting period of growth and redevelopment. At the core of this dramatic growth is redevelopment and expansion of the Town Centre area. Covering over 92 hectares at the centre of the township, this area is set to provide first class civic and educational facilities, as well as a rich mix of commercial, cultural and entertainment functions, and a range of housing options with convenient access to all these services and recreation activities. Building on the existing strengths of the area, revitalisation and expansion of the Town Centre has the potential to change the image of Kwinana and provide its residents with the levels of choice and convenience expected of Perth's finest suburbs.

Chisham Avenue set to become bustling hub

Cnr Meares Avenue and Chisham AvenueThe two blocks of Chisham Avenue, between Gilmore and Meares, are set to become a bustling commercial street that will enjoy a rich mix of uses. A high level of pedestrian activity, slow moving traffic, comfortable and sheltered sidewalks and quality public open space will create an area where people spend time with their friends or gather for special events and community festivals. Development on Chisham Avenue will include retail and offices, restaurants, cafés, entertainment venues and other community services in 2 to 3 storey mixed-use buildings that front directly onto the sidewalks, creating a continuous façade of activity on both sides of the street.

The buildings will also frame a central space, or Town Square, that will become the ‘heart' of the Kwinana community, offering a place for weekend markets or other occasional events, as well as a casual, outdoor meeting place for day-to-day visitors to the Town Centre.

Education Precinct

Boasting a huge range of brand new educational facilities, the Town of Kwinana is confident that its residents will have the knowledge, qualifications and tools to benefit from the outstanding job opportunities in the area.

A new $12 million Community Resource and Knowledge Centre featuring a library, community meeting spaces and life long learning programs is planned for the Town Centre.
