Outdoor Youth Space (coming soon)

About the Project

The much-anticipated $1.5m Kwinana Outdoor Youth Space now under construction and planned for completion in late 2017. This exciting new facility will cater to a range of wheeled-sports including skateboarding , scooters, BMX and rollerblading as well as parkour and basketball.

The Outdoor Youth Space is centrally located at Calista Oval, opposite the Zone Youth Space and alongside the recently completed Kwinana Adventure Park.

This facility will replace the previous Kwinana Skate Park at Calista Oval. The skating community have been making use of a pop-up skate park in Orelia while they await completion of the new space.

Follow the Kwinana Skate Park on Facebook to stay up to date with the progress.

Design

The Kwinana community provided valuable input throughout the planning and design phase of the project. Consultation events were held to obtain feedback on what users would like to see at the new facility; with participants including Kwinana youth, parents and a community group called the Skate Park Reference Group .

The final design has now been completed by Convic, and will cater to a range of ages and abilities. The space is planned to include the following features:

  • beginners area;
  • street area;
  • jumps run;
  • half pipe;
  • advanced bowl;
  • parkour area; and
  • basketball half court.
The design incorporates unique elements of Kwinana’s character including the ocean, industrial area and natural environment. The space is divided in to various zones to support skill progression, from the beginners area to the competition-level advanced bowl.
