The Southern Corridor Alliance is a collection of councils calling for the development of the Outer Harbour as a way to create jobs, attract industries and spur economic growth for more than 400,000 residents.
What is the Outer Harbour?
The Outer Harbour has been identified for several decades as the new Port based in the Kwinana Industrial Area, which will ensure the sustainability of WA's port trade for the next century. All major political parties agree the future lies with the Outer Harbour.
The Southern Corridor Alliance believe detailed planning for the Outer Harbour needs to start now.

Why is it so important?
This project has national significance. It will be the catalyst for upgraded infrastructure and improved amenity across the Southern Corridor. By diverting heavy freight, improving ageing infrastructure, and upgrading key roads, it will make transport links safer, faster and better able to connect our growing communities.
- Investment in the Outer Harbour will translate into billions of dollars in revenue for Western Australia, and tens of thousands of new 21st century jobs.
- It will provide employment and opportunities for a population set to grow by nearly 300,000 in the next 20 years.
- It will attract industry, support increased trade, and position the corridor to take advantage of growing investment in sectors such as agriculture and defence.
Development of the Outer Harbour is the right plan for Western Australia. This is the right port in the right place and the right time to start this development is now.
