Kwinana community groups are invited to apply for up to $5,000 funding to run an event in their local area. The City’s new Community Event Fund aims to create more connected neighbourhoods by supporting non-profit organisations to run their own ‘place-based’ events.
A variety of events may be eligible for funding, including family fun days, concerts, markets, multicultural celebrations, or any event that brings the community together. Applications for the Community Event Fund are open 1 August to 31 August 2017, with a total of $50,000 in grants available.
Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the City recognised the importance of locally-run events.
“Events run by Kwinana’s local organisations bring a real sense of togetherness to our community, engaging local skills and knowledge.
“We are excited to support a diverse range of vibrant community events and activities through this new funding program. I would like to encourage any group with an idea for an event that will benefit the Kwinana community to apply, said Mayor Adams.”
